New in Teams

New lobby setting in Teams Meeting Options: “only me”

A new lobby setting has been announced that gives you, the meeting organiser greater control over who can enter your meeting. The introduction of “Only me” as an option to bypass the lobby means only the organiser can enter the meeting directly, everyone including those within your organisation will be sent to the lobby.

Microsoft Teams Rooms, version 4.5.35.0 is now available and includes some long awaited updates –

Support for video gallery-only layouts: by tapping the layout icon on your team console, you can select different views depending on the needs of your viewers. Options include video gallery-only, content-only, or comdeo and content.

Raise hand: by raising a hand you can get the attention of those in the meeting without interrupting the flow of the speaker. When you raise your hand in Teams, a notification will appear in the centre room console and in the video gallery.

Direct guest join for Cisco Webex meetings and devices: Via embedded web technologies Teams Rooms and Cisco Webex meeting room devices can now be connected.

Auto-enrollment and device management from Teams Admin Center: Microsoft Teams Rooms have been added to the list of devices that can be managed through the Teams Admin Center.

New in SharePoint

New Employee Onboarding Hub

The NEO hub, as Microsoft are calling it helps guide new starts from their first day on the job. It provides new employees with the resources, information and any support the need. It also gives a new employee an opportunity to connect with important people, communities and become more immersed in the company culture.

Microsoft Lists app in Microsoft 365 and eight ready-made templates

At the end of July Microsoft began rolling out Microsoft Lists – with the Lists app now available in Microsoft 365 and eight ready-made templates. The app is the central place for all the lists you access across different sites, with the ability to create new lists.

Simply put it is an app designed to help you track information and organise work. They are smart and flexible so you can manage your team priorities more efficiently. They can track issues, assets, inventory and much more using views you can customise for the teams that need them with smart rules to keep everyone notified and on the same page.

Automatically block guest access to new files until security scans are complete

Admins can now enable Data Loss Prevention to block external access to any new SharePoint files until they have been fully scanned for personal or company sensitive information. If the scan comes back negative for sensitive content guests may access the file as normal.

You can create and manage your DLP policy on the data loss prevention page in the Microsoft 356 Security Center.

We hope you found these insights useful and hope they will enable your business to work more effectively and productively. If you are looking to improve productivity, encourage collaboration and enable data access then join our webinar on the 27th of August. You can register here.
