Each month we like to keep you updated with the latest updates and developments within the Microsoft 365 suite. This month we explore updates for Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Microsoft Viva, SharePoint, Windows and more.

We hope you find these interesting.

SharePoint

Configure Navigation Links to Open in a New Tab
With this update, you configure how you would like your navigation links to open when you interact on SharePoint. Users will have the option to choose to open in the same tab or in a new tab for across sites, hubs, and with global navigation items.

Manage site access based on sensitivity label
Admins can now utilise Conditional Access policies and sensitivity labels to require additional user authentication for accessing sensitive SharePoint sites when the user’s context does not meet the current requirements.

There are many reasons you may require additional authentication for accessing certain sensitive sites. For example, when a user visits a highly sensitive site marked as Confidential, you may wish to enforce a step-up authentication with granular policies such as multi-factor authentication when the user’s context does not meet the access requirement of the site.

Once an admin configures the sensitivity label with authentication context, when a user applies a sensitivity label, the associated granular contextual and conditional policies are automatically enforced.

Microsoft Viva

Microsoft Viva Learning cards for the Viva Connections Dashboard
Viva Learning is an enterprise learning and training experience that acts as a one-step solution for all the learning needs of your organisation. Viva Connections offers a personalised platform where users can discover relevant news, conversations, and the tools they need to complete daily tasks.

Administrators will be able to integrate Viva Learning and Viva Connections experiences by using the Viva Learning card on the Viva Connections Dashboard. This feature will enable users to track their learning assignments directly. Meaning when users interact with the Viva Learning card, they’ll be able to complete learning courses within the flow of the work in Teams.

When it’s time to present, use PowerPoint Live in Teams for an immersive remote presentation.

Pre-assign channel members to breakout Rooms
Currently, only those invited to a meeting can be assigned to a breakout room. Now, as the meeting organiser you can preassign participants within channel meetings for members not explicitly invited to the meeting.

You can now create meeting transcriptions automatically during meeting recordings. If IT admins enable transcriptions for the organisation and the meeting organiser sets the Record automatically meeting option to on for a meeting, transcription of the meeting will start when the meeting starts
