SharePoint governance

Clear rules and roles for your SharePoint.

We build a SharePoint governance model covering permissions, naming conventions, site provisioning, content lifecycle and compliance, balanced so people can still get their work done. Everyone involved knows what is expected of them, from the intranet business owner to each site owner.

How we work

How a governance project runs.

01

Discovery

We talk to stakeholders across the business about how SharePoint is used today, the problems they have and what they want from it.
02

Design

A governance model covering roles, site provisioning and decommissioning, naming conventions, permissions and content standards, for you to review.
03

Build

We put the model in place: provisioning forms and workflows or self-service rules, permission structures, and Purview or Orchestry where they fit.
04

Train

Training for site owners and content editors on their responsibilities and on publishing, accessibility and naming standards.
05

Go live

The model is rolled out, we support owners through the first weeks and train internal champions to keep it going.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What does a SharePoint governance model cover?

Roles and responsibilities, training for site owners, site provisioning and decommissioning, content management standards, permissions and compliance.

Who should be able to create new sites?

It depends on your organisation. Some choose self-service and others manage site creation through a request form and workflow. We help you decide and set up whichever fits.

Why does governance affect search?

Content sprawl makes search worse. A governance plan sets where content is published, how it is named and organised and when it is reviewed, so search returns the current version.

Which tools do you use?

SharePoint's own settings, Microsoft Purview for retention and labelling, and Orchestry for provisioning and lifecycle management across Microsoft 365.
